This was our second out-of-town wedding over the last year and it certainly was one to remember. With over 300 orange and yellow pincushion flowers to style with, a weekend packed full of celebrations, pouring rain, strong winds and temperatures below zero – all we can say is that we had one helluva time!
Elandskloof is such a picturesque venue and with literally only one spot on the entire farm where there’s cellphone reception, you really have the opportunity to just enjoy the surroundings and appreciate what nature has to offer. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the venue itself is a beautiful blank canvas for the perfect wedding celebration.
We arrived on the Friday morning and while the sun was shining, it wasn’t long before the cold kicked in. The couple’s friends and family were slowly also starting to arrive for the weekend’s proceedings which started off with a supper of Breyani hosted by the bride’s family that Friday evening. We were lucky enough to share in on the grub and it was SOOOOO good!
We were knee-deep in flowers and loving it! Andy wanted the orange pincushion flower to be the focal point of each and every arrangement, including all the bouquets. We created a stunning floral arch for their ceremony which really highlighted the pincushions as per our brief. Andy’s bouquet was such a treat as we got to style with an array of oranges, browns, greenery and pops of blue. It made for a striking contrast against the absolutely beautiful chocolate colour of her skin! (the proof is in the pictures 😉 )
The father of the bride was the epitome of a proud father and he couldn’t thank us enough for the beautiful decor and flowers. We were under the scrutiny of the bride’s uncle as well and hopefully he was happy with the outcome of the wedding. We were spot-checked by him every 10 minutes or so lol but it was all good fun!
What a beautiful coming together of two families and a couple who radiated love like no other. Celebrations went on until the early hours of the Sunday morning and the pouring rain decided to make an appearance topped off with snow on the surrounding mountains which was a spectacular thing to see as the mountains are so close by. It made for a very cold day but we kept warm as we packed up to head back to Cape Town.
We really enjoyed working at Elandskloof and hopefully we get to go back soon to make more wedding dreams come to life!
We’ll forever remember your bold wedding Andy & Marvin! Thank you for choosing us!
